All is Fair in Love

In the past dating somebody who is not of the same race or nationality seemed to receive a frown and elicit raised eyebrows from the people surrounding the couple. It was thought that communication barriers and differences in culture and traditions would only create adequate havoc in the couple’s relationship. The possibility of living in harmony was unheard of and that dating someone out of one’s league would only end up in grief and unhappiness. Despite of that many have mustered the courage to deviate the dictates and norms of society.

Dating Out of League

Nowadays, interracial dating is quite widespread. The number of people entering into multiracial relationships has increased significantly. Gone are the days of apprehensions and fear that two people coming from varying cultures are not the same. Seemingly, labels have been taken away. Rather the person’s individuality is now being viewed as a thing of beauty that is to be respected and shared. The integration of diverse nationalities and its accompanying customs is a sign that the ugly facets of bigotry, racism, and prejudice are being eliminated. Hate has indeed been turned into true love. And with it comes acceptance and understanding of the other person’s background.

Interracial dating provides the opportunity of learning other people’s way of life. Through it knowledge is gained and appreciation of the beauty of other nations and its people. This actually enriches one’s being all the way. What is even more important is the discovery that the person’s outer appearance does not define who he or she is inside. A new perspective of humanity arises by looking deeper into the person rather than stopping at a stereotypical hearsay.

Eventually, the realization that we are all created alike regardless of where we come from would set in. The essence of our being is to love and be loved. Our capacity to deeply love someone is not restricted by the color of our skin or how we speak our words. The language of love is universal. And when love is present no mountain is insurmountable. True love persists and encompasses challenges. It has no limit to its endurance, outlasts anything and ultimately it prevails.
